This summer breaks that pattern. Between late July and October 1, the resort at the end of Camino del Mar, the Cabo Sports Complex up the corridor, and the East Cape marinas are running a schedule dense enough that a Pedregal resident could plan the next ten weekends without ever leaving a fifteen mile radius. The thesis is small but useful: for people who already live inside the Dos Mares tunnel, the corridor's summer center of gravity has moved closer to home than it has been in years.
The Anchor Down the Road Just Won Its Category
Waldorf Astoria Los Cabos Pedregal was recognized in the Travel + Leisure 2026 World's Best Awards as the #2 resort in Los Cabos, #1 in Cabo San Lucas, and #5 in Mexico. That ranking arrived before the property finished its own renovation. The final phase of a multi-year property-wide transformation will have its grand reveal on October 1, including a complete redesign of all 112 guest rooms, suites, beachfront suites, presidential beachfront suite, casitas, and villas, plus updates to the Beach Club Restaurant, adult pool, and the Salon at the Waldorf Astoria Spa.
Two things follow from those dates. First, the reader's dinner reservations at El Farallon and Don Manuel's will look and feel different by fall, so July and August are the last chance to see the pre-reveal version. Second, the resort's summer programming is already running at full volume. From May 21 through September 8, families are invited to a curated summer program, with children dining at no additional cost at select venues and exclusive benefits for multi-bedroom stays that include babysitting and Kids Club access. For Pedregal owners hosting visiting family, that changes the math on where to route the grandkids for a long lunch.
What's Actually New to Eat Inside the Tunnel
The renovation has quietly reorganized the resort's culinary rooms. If you have not walked through in six months, here is what has changed:
- TRAVESÍA at La Cocina. A nine-course tasting menu built as a love letter to the regions of Mexico, taking guests on a culinary pilgrimage through the specific geographic regions responsible for the taco's ingredients.
- Agave Study at Peacock Alley. Part of the transformation, alongside a new coffee concept called Neutral Coffee Lab and a refresh of Don Manuel's, per the resort's own announcement of the renovation phases.
- The Wine Cellar at Don Manuel's. A private room inside the signature restaurant, added during the renovation cycle.

For neighbors, the practical read is that Don Manuel's is no longer just the hacienda-style dinner it was three years ago. It is now the anchor of a small food district inside the property, and the tasting-menu formats reward planning ahead rather than a walk-in.

A few notes on the tennis specifically. The tenth edition of the Mifel Tennis Open by Telcel-Oppo will take place from July 27 to August 1, 2026, at the Cabo Sport Complex. Free entry is available for the qualifying rounds on Saturday, July 25 and Sunday, July 26, when the tournament runs Kids Nite and Family Day. Two afternoons of ATP-quality tennis with no ticket is an unusual thing to have twenty minutes from home, and it tends to be the least crowded window of the week.
On the fishing side, the East Cape event is smaller and more social than the fall Bisbee's tournaments. The East Cape Offshore runs July 28 through August 1, 2026 with a base entry of $1,500 and an all-in of $36,000, and it drops teams into Old Mexico charm in Buena Vista for high-stakes marlin, tuna, and dorado fishing. If you have never watched the weigh-ins, the East Cape version is the friendlier introduction before the Marina fills in October.
The Wellness Booking That Actually Sells Out
One line item on the resort's summer schedule tends to disappear from availability first. The property is continuing its partnership with Alo Wellness Club into 2026, giving guests the opportunity to join popular Alo Wellness Club instructors at the resort for a three-day in-person retreat focused on sustainable, mindful living and recovery, building on the success of the first two years. Pedregal residents can book without traveling, which is the entire point of having a Forbes Five-Star spa five minutes from the front door.
Speaking of that spa, the treatment menu is worth revisiting if you have not been in since the transformation. The Spa features an enhanced salon alongside the signature saltwater meditation pool, and treatments guided by the four phases of the moon, all rooted in traditional Mexican rituals. The moon-phase framing is not marketing filler; the treatments actually rotate.
The Larger Shift Down the Corridor
Zoom out from Pedregal for a minute. The reason the summer calendar feels denser is that Los Cabos itself is compressing more debuts into 2026 than any recent year. The Ánima Village development at Cabo del Sol is aiming for a late-2025 to 2026 debut and will bring more than 80 brands, high-end restaurants, galleries and wellness spaces to the corridor between Cabo San Lucas and San José del Cabo. That is the missing piece for anyone who has felt the corridor was short on serious retail. When Ánima opens in earnest, the drive from Pedregal to a proper gallery walk drops from forty-five minutes to about fifteen.
Other corridor arrivals worth watching from Pedregal:
- Acre Resort's new garden-focused restaurant Rūstico, which emphasizes open-fire cooking and locally sourced ingredients.
- Ilios Greek Estiatorio, bringing Mediterranean flavors to the destination alongside the growing roster of resort dining.
- Amanvari, the boutique Aman resort slated to open in early to mid-2026 within Costa Palmas on the East Cape, with 18 freestanding casitas and dining concepts that combine Italian, Japanese, and regional cuisine.
None of those is a substitute for what already sits at the end of Camino del Mar. They are, however, useful context. The corridor is adding rooms, restaurants, and retail at a pace that makes the Waldorf's October 1 reveal look less like a solo event and more like the opening chord of a broader fall reset.
A Practical Reading of the Next Ten Weekends
For a Pedregal resident, the summer breaks into three windows that each want a different plan.
Now through July 24. Off-peak weeks. The best time to try TRAVESÍA on a quieter night, book an Alo retreat slot before September pressure builds, or walk the beach at Playa del Amor without a boat traffic jam.
July 25 through August 1. Tournament week doubled. Tennis at the Cabo Sports Complex during the day, marlin weigh-ins on the East Cape at sunset if you make the drive, and reservations at every corridor restaurant tighten noticeably. Book Don Manuel's and El Farallon at least a week out.
August 2 through September 30. The last quiet stretch before Oct 1. The Waldorf family program is still running through September 8, which is useful if visitors are coming down. This is also the window where the current version of the resort's rooms and public spaces still exists. If you have friends who have talked about staying at Pedregal for years and never done it, the pre-reveal rate windows tend to soften in late August.
Then October 1 arrives, the renovation reveal lands, and the corridor tilts into the fall tournaments and holiday season. The summer's whole trick is that most of what makes this fall interesting is already visible from your front porch.
